Environment Rating Scale Training 2020

The Environment Rating Scales (ERS) are observation tools that assess the quality of interactions between adults and children, including classroom schedules, materials and spaces available and accessible to children. The use of ERS is a widely accepted method of evaluating and improving the quality of home– and center–based programs. The Infant/Toddler and the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales are used in center/school based settings while the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale is used in family childcare homes.

The Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS-R) is an observation tool used in the Family Child Care Home that assesses the quality of interactions between adults and children.  FCCERS-R also assesses the impact that the program’s schedule and routines, materials, and physical environment have on the quality of the program.  This virtual four (4) hour training provides a basic understanding of the FCCERS-R.  Those who work with/in Family Child Care Homes will find this training beneficial.

Participants will:

  • Learn some of the important concepts and terms used frequently in the scale,
  • Learn about the scoring system,
