The Hall County Community Collaborative invites you to join us on Thursday, September 17, 2020 for

Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities

This training experience provides both the social service provider and the community member key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty. Topics include increasing awareness of the differences in economic cultures and how those differences affect opportunities for success. This training is based on the book Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities, a collaboration between Ruby K. Payne, Phillip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith. This workshop is designed for audiences of employers, community organizations, law enforcement, counselors, health care and social service providers.

This has been approved for 6 clock hours for childcare providers.

Date:   Thursday, September 17, 2020

Time:  8:30 am – 3:30 pm with breaks built in throughout the day

Location:  This is an online workshop, however you must pre-register in order to participate.

Cost:   $15 for workbook.  Please pre-register by September 10th to Naomi@cncaa.info  (name, organization, email and phone)

Your Presenter….  Jim Ott has been a school psychologist with the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency out of Bettendorf, Iowa, since 1984. He has served a variety of schools in rural Jackson County for his entire career. Jim is the co-founder of the City of Dubuque’s Circles Initiative, which is applying Bridges Out of Poverty Concepts at the community level through workshops, trainings, and Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World groups. Jim also presents Emotional Poverty workshops. He has been a national consultant with aha! Process since 2010.   Educational Background:  Specialist in School Psychology Services (S.Psy.S.), Central Michigan University; Master’s in Psychology, Central Michigan University; Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Central Michigan University
