“Addressing Poverty’s Impact on Early Learning”

Addressing Poverty’s Impact on Early Learning examines how economic class effects early childhood learning experiences and parent partnerships. Workshop topics include mental models; effective parent communication; community resources; and learning experiences to support social-emotional development in children. Participants can expect to engage in discussions on creating local definitions of poverty, and how to collaboratively build community well-being systems for greater impact. This session is appropriate for in-home providers, center-based providers, early childhood educators, and early childhood support staff.

All trainings have been pre-approved for DHHS child care licensure training, four (4) in-service hours.
Bio:
Erin Sams is an Educator and Community Well-Being Advocate. Her mission is to provide education that promotes community knowledge, collaboration, and equity. Experiences in early childhood education and administration; community-based food programs; as well as community partnership coordination provides the motivation for her work. Erin’s interest in the interconnectedness of narratives fuels her desire to create space for complex whole systems thinking and planning.
